Working within a specialist scaffold design team delivering temporary works solutions for projects undertaken for National Grid, as well as other clients across the power transmission, distribution and commercial sectors. Responsibilities include interpreting client requirements and technical specifications, assisting with site surveys, assessing ground conditions, environmental constraints and access requirements, and identifying potential hazards that influence scaffold design. Supporting the production and modification of scaffold layouts, land-take drawings and temporary works designs using AutoCAD. Developing an understanding of structural behaviour, load paths, live and dead loads, wind loading, stability, scaffold foundations and safe access to ensure designs are practical, compliant and fit for purpose. Assisting with reviewing and adapting client quotations, collaborating with experienced scaffold designers and operational teams, and gaining practical experience in designing scaffolding for overhead power line works, substations and associated infrastructure. Continuing professional development through structured workplace training alongside college and university studies towards a qualification in scaffold design engineering.
