I worked as a Book Formatting and Publishing Specialist at Draft2Digital, where I was responsible for preparing manuscripts for professional digital and print publication across multiple platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and other global distributors. My role involved transforming raw manuscripts into fully polished, publication-ready books by applying industry-standard formatting, typography, and layout techniques for both eBooks and print formats. During my time there, I collaborated with a diverse range of authors, including independent writers, small publishing teams, and international clients. I had the opportunity to work closely with German and Spanish authors, ensuring their manuscripts met English and international publishing standards while preserving their original voice and structure. This required strong attention to detail, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to adapt formatting styles for multilingual content. My responsibilities also included troubleshooting formatting issues, optimizing files for different devices (Kindle, EPUB, PDF), and ensuring consistency in design elements such as margins, spacing, fonts, headings, and table of contents structures. I regularly communicated with authors to understand their vision and provided guidance on best publishing practices to improve readability and presentation. In addition, I contributed to improving workflow efficiency by implementing formatting templates and quality-check processes, which helped reduce turnaround time while maintaining high-quality output. My work directly supported authors in successfully publishing their books and achieving a professional standard in the competitive self-publishing market.
