FAQ
How many minutes should my vows be?
This is a tricky question. Many people will tell you different things and there is a ton of conflicting advice out there on this. The gold standard is typically 2-3 minutes. But it's your wedding so you get to choose! My advice? Talk to your spouse in advance and agree on an average time.
How will I know how long my vows will be?
This depends on how quickly you speak. If you are speaking at an average rate, 500 words of writing will translate to approximately 4 minutes. If you are nervous, your speaking rate will increase, making your vows closer to 3 minutes.
What should I include?
This is a common question, but here is the basic formula: What you thought when you met + What they mean to you/why you are marrying them + promises = Vows. However, as I say to all my clients, this is YOUR wedding. You can throw this formula out if you have something more personalized in mind.
