I worked with a small product development company that was struggling to turn rough product concepts and hand drawn sketches into accurate 3D models that could be used for prototyping and manufacturing. Their initial designs had inconsistent dimensions, difficult to manufacture features, and limited technical documentation. This made it challenging for their prototype supplier to understand the intended design and resulted in repeated adjustments during development. I was brought in to help organize and improve the product designs. I reviewed their sketches, reference images, measurements, and existing models to understand the functional requirements of each component. I then developed detailed 3D CAD models with accurate dimensions, proper component relationships, and practical assembly considerations. For the product enclosure, I refined the overall geometry, created mounting points for internal components, adjusted wall thicknesses, and considered access for assembly and maintenance. I also designed supporting mechanical parts and ensured that components fit together correctly. Where necessary, I modified features to make them more suitable for 3D printing and future manufacturing processes. Alongside the 3D models, I prepared clear technical drawings showing critical dimensions, tolerances, views, and assembly details. I also produced realistic renders that allowed the company to review the product appearance before moving into physical prototyping. The improved CAD files gave the company a much clearer representation of the final product, reduced design confusion, and provided a more reliable foundation for prototyping and manufacturing. My focus throughout the project was on precision, functionality, manufacturability, and creating designs that could realistically move from concept to production.
