My writing started in 2003, with a weekly wine column for the Rocky Mountain Outlook in Canmore. A weekly column teaches you two things fast: a deadline is a deadline, and the reader didn't show up for your vocabulary. From there I wrote the copy for my own real estate ventures, the offering materials, the investor letters, the marketing, everything that had to move real money and not just read well. I've placed op-eds in business publications along the way, and these days I write long-form essays on finance, markets, and policy on Substack, under the Taurean Matador masthead. Twenty-plus years of writing that had to do a job, in every register from the wine page to the offering memorandum.
