After Effects to Lottie Animation Conversion

ASA • Freelance

Jan 2026 - Jan 20260 mos

I recently worked on a demanding motion design conversion project where I transformed two advanced Adobe After Effects animations into fully optimized Lottie (JSON) animations for web and app integration. The main goal wasn’t just export, it was rebuilding everything into a lightweight, vector-based structure while preserving the original motion design exactly as intended. The project involved breaking down complex AE compositions, identifying Lottie-compatible elements, and reconstructing unsupported effects using clean, performance-friendly alternatives. I converted raster-heavy assets into scalable vector shapes using Adobe Illustrator workflows and carefully optimized every layer to ensure smooth Bodymoving export without breaking animation integrity. One of the animations featured dual-side motion graphics with mixed media elements, which required precise balancing between visual fidelity and file performance. Think of it as performing surgery on motion graphics, every keyframe had to stay intact while making sure the final JSON file didn’t choke inside a browser. I also handled timeline corrections, easing refinements, and SVG optimization to ensure both animations remained visually identical to the original After Effects renders while being fully responsive for digital platforms. Tools used: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, SVG optimization techniques, and Bodymovin/Lottie export workflow. Final result: two production-ready Lottie animations that matched the originals almost 1:1, but were now lightweight, scalable, and fully optimized for modern UI/UX environments. This project reinforced my expertise in Lottie animation, After Effects conversion workflows, and performance-driven motion design where precision and optimization matter just as much as creativity.
