I’ve spent the past 5 years reading fiction manuscripts and giving authors an honest reader’s perspective before they publish. Most of my work has been with romance, fantasy, and literary fiction. While reading, I pay attention to the parts that matter to a real reader. I notice when the story pulls me in, when a chapter starts to drag, when a character’s actions don’t make sense, or when a scene leaves me confused. I also look at dialogue, character chemistry, plot flow, pacing, world-building, repetition, and emotional moments. My feedback is based on what I actually experience while reading the manuscript. I share what caught my attention, what felt weak, where I wanted the story to go further, and the moments that made me want to put it down. If something isn’t working, I point it out in a clear way and explain what I think could make the scene stronger. I don’t rewrite the author’s work or try to change their voice. My job is to give them an honest and thoughtful feedback before the book reaches their readers.
