I'm a book cover designer. My whole job is that first look between a story and the person who might read it. I take what an author's built and turn it into a single, powerful image that makes you stop and look.
I do this for all kinds of books, and I change my approach for each one. Kids' books need to be playful and full of life. An inspirational book needs a feeling of peace. A romance cover has to promise that passion. A business book needs to look sharp and bold. And for KDP, it's gotta work even as a tiny thumbnail.
