As a freelance beta reader, I work directly with independent authors to provide honest, detailed feedback on their manuscripts before publication. I specialize in fantasy, epic fantasy, romantasy, dark romance, mafia romance, contemporary fiction, and children's fiction. My process focuses on reading each manuscript from a genuine reader's perspective — noting where the story pulls readers in, where it may lose momentum, and where confusion, pacing issues, or inconsistencies could affect the reading experience. I evaluate plot structure, pacing, character development, dialogue, world-building, and emotional impact, then compile my observations into a clear, organized editorial letter. I focus on being constructive rather than critical for its own sake — pointing out what's working well alongside areas that could be strengthened, so authors walk away with a realistic, encouraging picture of their manuscript's current state and a clear sense of what to prioritize in revision. I take a genre-informed approach, meaning I evaluate manuscripts against the expectations and conventions readers bring to each specific genre — pacing expectations in romance differ from those in epic fantasy, for example, and I tailor my feedback accordingly. My goal with every project is the same: help authors understand exactly how real readers will experience their story, so they can revise with clarity and confidence before their book reaches an audience or goes on submission.
