I translate books between German and English, in both directions, with close attention to how a sentence actually reads for its audience, not just what it technically says. Idiom, rhythm, and tone rarely survive a literal translation, so I rebuild them rather than force a direct swap.
I read a manuscript in full before I begin, rather than translating line by line in isolation.
