KDP Book Formatter

Self employed / Freelance • Freelance

Dec 2019 - Present • 6 yrs 10 mos

I provide professional book formatting services for authors preparing their books for self-publishing through KDP and other publishing platforms. My work includes formatting book interiors for print and ebook publication, setting up professional chapter layouts, adjusting margins, page sizes, fonts, spacing, headers, footers, page numbers, and other interior elements to create a clean and reader-friendly final book. I also prepare book covers according to the required trim size, book dimensions, and spine width, ensuring the cover is properly sized and aligned for publishing requirements. For print books, I calculate and adjust the cover dimensions based on the selected trim size, page count, and spine requirements, then prepare the final cover file for upload. I pay close attention to details such as chapter breaks, front and back matter, table of contents, page alignment, typography, and overall consistency so the final files are professionally presented and ready for publication. I work with authors to make sure their manuscript and cover are properly prepared for the technical requirements of their chosen publishing format.

For 7+ years, I’ve worked with authors on fiction and nonfiction manuscripts, providing copy editing, line editing, proofreading, and manuscript feedback across different genres and writing styles. My editing focuses on improving grammar, clarity, sentence flow, consistency, pacing, and readability while preserving the author’s unique voice, tone, and the heart of their story. I work collaboratively with authors, using Track Changes and editorial feedback so they can review my suggestions and remain in control of their manuscript. For longer projects, I work in batches to ensure the editing approach matches the author’s expectations throughout the book. I’m committed to careful editing, clear communication, reliable turnaround times, and delivering polished files ready for the next stage of publication
