Hi, I'm the founder of SUGAMATA STUDIO, based in Japan. I have over 14 years of professional experience as a carpenter and interior contractor. For the past 7 years, I have worked as an independent contractor, participating in the construction and interior fit-out of approximately 100 restaurants, cafés, bars, and other commercial spaces across Japan. Because I work on real projects every day, I understand not only how Japanese spaces look, but also how they are actually planned, built, and used. My designs are based on practical construction knowledge as well as authentic Japanese culture. Through SUGAMATA STUDIO, my mission is to bring authentic Japanese design to clients around the world. I create restaurant interiors, storefront concepts, architectural ideas, and visual presentations inspired by everyday Japan—not stereotypes. I also provide support that only a native Japanese professional can offer, including product sourcing, design reviews, cultural advice, and detailed discussions about Japanese architecture, interiors, materials, and traditional aesthetics.
