A group of us Producers at Granada were charged with setting up a load of small, cost effective digital channels. I was in charge of the motoring programmes for the Men & Motors channel! We had tiny budgets but were very proud of the shows we made; I gave Richard Hammond his first TV break - met him when he was working for Renault at the Geneva Motors Show, the rest is history! Many of the young, keen film makers who worked with me there are now in key broadcasting and media positions.
