I am an Oklahoma-based writer and editor specializing in content creation, press releases, and copyediting. I’ve always loved writing. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a writer, artist, or veterinarian. I wrote my first book about baby animals when I was six years old on a friend’s typewriter. I also did the illustrations. Despite my best efforts, I remain less than mediocre at art, but through years of practice and study, I discovered my true talent was with words. I have a BA in English from the University of Oklahoma and an MA in English from the University of Central Oklahoma. I spent the first decade of my professional career teaching and designing courses in English, Humanities, Study Skills, and Computing for universities and colleges. The second half of my professional career has been spent in the media, first as the Web Content Editor for a group of community newspapers and now as the Managing Editor of a community newspaper, freelance writer, and editor. Content must be engaging and professional to gain attention. It’s not just about the words on the page. It is about the information presented and converting readers and visitors into subscribers and customers, and gaining media attention for the work being done.
