GemIQ to Shopify CSV Product Converter & Catalog Automation Project Overview I developed a reusable product data conversion workflow designed to transform GemIQ gemstone inventory exports into a Shopify-ready product CSV. The project focused on automating product creation for a gemstone catalog where every emerald has a unique SKU, multiple product images, optional video media, gemstone attributes, Shopify metafields, SEO information, and predefined product values. What I Worked On ✓ GemIQ CSV → Shopify CSV data transformation ✓ Automated SKU-based product mapping ✓ Multiple image URL association per product ✓ Automatic image position generation ✓ Automatic image alt text generation ✓ Fixed/default Shopify field values ✓ Calculated and generated product fields ✓ Shopify handle generation ✓ SEO title and meta description generation ✓ Product tags generation ✓ Gemstone attribute mapping ✓ Shopify metafield mapping ✓ Product code and SKU mapping ✓ Carat, shape, color, clarity and treatment mapping ✓ Country of manufacture and mine/origin mapping ✓ Inventory and fulfillment field mapping ✓ Identification of fields that should remain blank ✓ Test conversion using sample inventory data ✓ Reusable conversion workflow and documentation Media & SKU Automation A major part of the project was handling products with multiple images. Instead of manually assigning additional image URLs after every export, the conversion logic groups media according to the product SKU and automatically creates the appropriate Shopify image rows. For example: ABC123 → Image 1 → Image 2 → Image 3 → Image 4 → Video when available The workflow also generates image positions and relevant alt text automatically. ### Shopify Field Mapping I organized Shopify fields into three categories: **Fixed Values** Fields such as vendor, country of manufacture, condition, inventory policy, fulfillment service and shipping requirements can be automatically populated with predefined value
